Catnip - for Cats

Catnip, also known as catmint and catswort, Latin name Nepata cataria is most commonly used for filler in pet toys as for most cats this herb has an intoxicating effect.

The Backyard Patch sells Catnip as a single herb packaged for cats, but it is the same organic/chemical-free herb we use in our herbal teas and bath items. It can be purchased for your cat or you can make them share with you. For the cat we recommend sprinkling it on the floor or tying it in the toe of a sock or nylon.

Steep 2 teaspoons of dried catnip per cup of boiling water to create a catnip tea, allowing it to steep for 10 to 20 minutes, before you strain and drink for help with digestion and relaxation. Never boil the catnip in water, however, or it will loose all of its curative properties.

Catnip comes sealed in a zip seal bag inside a paper envelope containing about 1/2 cup by volume which is .62 ounces.

As with all blends from the Backyard Patch we guarantee an 18 to 24 month shelf-life, because we use only the freshest ingredients. All Backyard Patch herbs are raised organically and are chemical and pesticide free.

Because I grow and blend the herbs myself I can assure you no preservatives or pesticides have been used. I can also guarantee that these blends will hold up to storage for at least 18 months and still provide a flavorful item.
