Delights in the Kitchen - Cooking with Herb Seasonings Part 2

At Backyard Patch Herbs we make eight different Herb Seasonings for shaking onto cooked dishes.  They are versatile and easy to use. Packaged in glass jars, they are a great addition to your spice cabinet.

We wanted to share some tips for using these seasoning to get you in the mood. Here are some general suggestions and ideas for incorporating Backyard Patch Seasoning blends into various dishes. In a previous post we shared a different selection of Seasonings

Fine Herbs

  • Stir into eggs, omelets, quiche, or scrambled tofu for a light, fresh herb flavor.
  • Sprinkle into creamy sauces, compound butter, or soft cheeses.
  • Use as a finishing herb on steamed vegetables, chicken, or fish just before serving.

Herbs de Provence

  • Rub onto chicken, pork, or lamb before roasting or grilling for classic French countryside flavor.
  • Toss with olive oil and vegetables like potatoes, zucchini, or carrots before roasting to bring out savory, aromatic notes.
  • Add to soups, stews, or bean dishes early in cooking to build warm, herbaceous depth.

Vegetable Seasoning

  • Toss with olive oil and fresh vegetables before roasting, grilling, or air frying to enhance natural sweetness and flavor.
  • Stir into soups, broths, or grain dishes like rice or quinoa for a balanced, all-purpose herb boost.
  • Mix into butter, yogurt, or sour cream for an easy vegetable dip or spread.

Seafood Seasoning

  • Sprinkle on fish or shrimp before baking, broiling, or grilling to complement—not mask—natural seafood flavor.
  • Stir into melted butter, olive oil, or marinades for brushing onto seafood during cooking.
  • Add to seafood chowders, crab cakes, or fish stews to build layered, coastal-inspired flavor.

Experiment and get creative with these herb blends. They can be versatile additions to a wide range of dishes, and the possibilities are endless. And if you already have these in your cabinet, check out the Recipe Page for satisfying recipes using them.
