Where do your herbs come from?

We grow the herbs we use to make these products.  They are raised without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, hand harvested and air dried.  Our 3/4 acre herb garden is over 20 years old now, so our organic beds are well established and our plants produce the most aromatic and flavorful herbs around!

How much to your products weigh?

The weight of herbs varies by drying condition, so many of our items are sold by volume so that they can be useful in cooking and tea brewing. However we do post the general weight for the volume in the item description.

How do you ship?

We ship first class as herbs are generally lightweight.  For gift boxes and baskets, jar soups and other heavier items we currently ship Priority Mail.

How long will your herb blends stay fresh?

Since we dry and process our herbs ourselves, and because we blend on demand as herbs are ordered, you get the freshest dried herbs possible.  We keep them whole leaf until crumbled for blending, so we can guarantee you will be able to use the herbs in cooking and get great flavor for at least 18 months after purchase and many customers have used them much longer enjoying the herb flavors.

How do you grow your herbs?

We grow our herbs organically, no chemical fertilizers, no pesticides and only organic methods.  The herbs are grown in "hills" placed in rows.  This allows us to walk among the plants but keep a high quality soil and easy watering methods that makes plants drought resistant.

How do you harvest?

We harvest all herbs by hand, hang drying them.  We cut our herbs frequently and can take as much as 2/3 of a plant during a harvest, but being herbs they quickly regrow so we can harvest again. We harvest one herb at a time to fill our drying rack.  24 to 48 hours later when these are dry, we harvest another herb, keeping the dry herbs in over-sized food grade bags.  The herbs are kept "on stem" until needed for blending.  This keeps the herbs fresher longer allowing us to guarantee 18 to 24 months shelf life for our blends.

How do you dry your herbs?

We hang dry or air dry the herbs, rather than use commercial driers or dehydrators.  Due to the volume we process, dehydrators are inefficient.  Screens for drying small herbs like thyme or flowers and hanging racks where we suspend bundles of herbs on longer stems are our favorite methods.

How it all started

I started growing herbs in 1994. I love the scents, the shades of green, and the scent and texture of the leaves. I love everything about them!

My first herb garden resulted from my need for good tea herbs. To this day, tea is among my favorite creations.

My husband does not use salt or preservatives, as a result all my seasonings and mixes, are all salt free, organic and preservative free.
